It’s been months since I shared any wedding-related updates … and because it’s a common and kind question I receive from friends and from many of you, I thought I’d divulge a few details! In case you missed it, we’re getting married in New Orleans. (In the Garden District, more specifically.) We’re planning a visit to NOLA in October, which will be our first ‘planning-focused’ visit. Since we’re based in Chicago, it’ll be wonderful to connect directly with our vendors and venue in-person — and also set aside time to enjoy the city, of course!
Here’s where we’re at with wedding plans so far:
VENUE | We’ve had our venue booked for some time now, and I couldn’t be happier with our decision. It’s a beautiful space, perfect for our style and accommodating our guests. The venue is managed by a top local caterer, so we’re excited to taste and refine our menu soon (…which will be so fun, given the southern-focused cuisine!)
PHOTOGRAPHER | Photography is a high priority for me, personally — and I’m thrilled Clary Pfeiffer will be capturing our special day. She’s lovely and her work is absolutely stunning.
VIDEOGRAPHER | Kevin and I are excited locally-based Brooke Boyd will be with us in New Orleans to film. I don’t know about you, but I always love watching wedding films!
COORDINATOR | I enjoy the planning and design aspect (ahem, so far) but know I’ll appreciate the help of a pro team to coordinate the details and manage the day-of. Enter Sapphire Events. They’re among the best in the south and I’m so happy to be working together.
What’s up next?
CEREMONY | You know, the most important part of a wedding 😉 We’ll be working with an officiant to develop our ceremony and vows in the coming months.
DRESS | Ah yes, ‘the dress.’ My mom is joining me in Chicago for a few bridal appointments this week. We’re visiting boutiques in Lincoln Park, Old Town and Gold Coast. Wish us luck!
SAVE THE DATES | Stationery is truthfully one of the most fun parts of planning I’ve enjoyed so far, oddly enough. I’m giddy to delve into the details more on our save the dates and wedding suite with Scriptura.
FLOWERS/DECOR | Another fun part of any wedding! I have an overall vision of what I’d like for flowers and decor, and look forward to collaborating with vendors to bring those ideas to life, within our season and budget.
BAND | Music plays a big role in life for my family, fiancé and I. Then add in the element of New Orleans and we have a party! NOLA is home to an incredible musical history and base of performers, and we’re excited for this aspect of our celebration.
Thank you for reading! Any brides (or brides to be) have planning advice or ideas to share?
