A small powder room was one of the first spaces in our new home to get a little extra attention. Located between the dining room and kitchen, this powder room is a visible spot and one most all guests would use. The “before” room certainly wasn’t bad — just a little basic.
We kept main fixtures in place (like the pedestal sink, toilet and flooring) but updated lighting, hardware, and hello — the walls! This beautiful antigua oak palm print wallpaper gives just the right amount of texture and interest. I feel it fits my traditional taste, but offers something a little fun. Wallpaper is back, people!
I knew I wanted to use my grandmother’s antique gilded mirror in this powder room. It’s a piece I’ll forever cherish. Flanked by two wall sconces, it’s a vignette I truly enjoy looking at every day.
Other antique brass accents include wall fixtures by Restoration Hardware, bath accessories by Target (a major find!) and this gold faucet we installed to the existing sink. The drawback of a pedestal sink is the lack of storage, so this gold tissue canister does the trick while keeping in line with other accessories.
An ivory silk roman shade by Blindsgalore was an extra finishing touch to the room.
