Happy (official) first day of spring! Does it feel like spring where you live? We’re not quite there here in Chicago, but I have faith warmer days are around the corner. In case you missed it, I’m traveling to Arizona later this week — and I’m realizing when I return, April will have arrived and spring will (likely) feel more underway. To make the most of the season, I’m putting together a spring ‘to-do’ list and anticipating things I’m most looking forward to in the coming months…
Visits from out-of-town friends | I’m thankful for many friends locally in the city, but I sure miss those farther away! A few out-of-town friends have plans in the works to visit Chicago this spring and I can’t wait for their company.
Décor updates around home | I’m one of those people who will leave Christmas and wintery decorations up as late as possible, but when it’s time, spring decor feels so fresh and revitalizing. I’m thrilled to be working with a beloved home brand this spring… so stay tuned for more soon!
Giving our balcony some TLC | On a similar note, winter really takes a toll on outdoor space. Once it’s warmer, I’m looking forward to giving our balcony a little TLC and planting some greens + flowers.
Trying a new class at my gym | I recently re-joined my former gym and have been trying to stick to a more consistent routine, exercise-wise. I’m thankful my gym offers a variety of classes, in addition to all the traditional equipment and facilities. I’d love to get on board with a new class, like Pilates or circuit training.
More time outdoors | Warmer months translate to more time spent outdoors, from lakeshore walks and neighborhood bike rides, to rooftops and patios. Basically, any excuse to be outside is a good one.
Trips to the farmers market | Chicago has several markets throughout the year, but my favorites are Green City in Lincoln Park and my local Lakeview market during the summer months. Most open outdoors for the season in May… I’ll be there!
Cleaning out closets | Okay, this isn’t the most ‘fun’ thing on this list… but it’s one that’s necessary. (Real talk: Why do we hold on to things we don’t need, use, or even like?) I’m pretty good about not keeping too much excess ‘stuff’ around, but I could be better organized and donate a few items no longer getting the love they deserve.
Embracing seasonal blooms | Spring is all about tulips, peonies and ranunculus. Fresh flowers are such a treat at home and I love finding $5 bouquets at Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods. They also make a great hostess gift, or a thoughtful surprise to someone special!
Celebrating Easter and Cinco de Mayo | Easter is the ultimate spring holiday (and always reminds me of wearing pastels, searching for candy, and enjoying Sunday brunch with family). I also have to say, Cinco de Mayo is up there on fun occasions to celebrate.
Progressing with wedding plans | Last, but not least, I’m excited to be making progress with wedding plans! We’re checking off a few bigger items on the list now, and I’m looking forward to delving into specifics with vendors as the summer months unfold.
What are you most looking forward to this spring?
